From The Principal
Literacy focus for 2010: The teaching of literacy is a priority at Oxenford State School and we are
currently reviewing our Literacy Strategy to further enhance our whole school approach to literacy
teaching and learning. To ensure that our students are able to transfer these essential skills into
everyday life beyond the classroom requires a shared understanding between the school, home
and community level.
In order to develop this we are conducting an on-line survey that collects information from
parents/caregivers regarding the understanding of the teaching and learning of literacy.  The
questionnaire does not require your name so anonymity is ensured.  The collected data will provide
us with a wealth of information in the form of a community profile that will guide our school towards
improving literacy outcomes for all students.
We encourage all families to participate in this survey.  The survey closes on October 30. To
access and complete the survey, please follow these guidelines:
Visit our school website using the following address: http://oxenfordss.eq.edu.au
Click on the button labelled “Surveys” on the left hand side of the webpage (under Quick Links).
Click the link: Literacy Strategy 2009-2011COMMUNITY SURVEY.
I would like to take this opportunity to thankyou for your support in completing this survey and
helping us to ensure every student achieves their potential.
World Teachers’ Day: This is a significant event celebrated on Friday 31 October 2009.
Celebrating World Teachers’ Day is a chance to showcase the hard work of educators and reflect
on how teachers bridge the gap between the classroom and the community.
Oxenford State School is extremely fortunate to have a highly professional and committed cohort
of staff who believes passionately in the potential of their students.
I encourage the parent community to speak with staff in relation to what children can do and how
each individual child’s journey is progressing here in our school.
This day is an opportunity for us all to say Thankyou to the professional staff of Oxenford State
School.

The uniform shop will be open on a Tuesday from 2.30pm to 3.15pm.
We are currently out of size 14 polo shirts.

We also have an interim tuckshop convener; her name is Tennille Glassop. If you have any time to

We are working hard to get the fete organized, so if you have any suggestions please contact me
on carmen@pofandt.com or on 55560228.
The next fete meeting is on the 28th October at 2pm.
We will be holding a cent auction at the fete and would like families to help with donations for

You should all by now have your family portrait order forms. Please make sure you get in early.
With the fete only 6 weeks away we are starting to really pull out all stops. If you have any spare
time and are willing to help out, please come to our next meeting.
The rides we will be having at the fete are a giant slide, car merry go round, lost temple jumping
castle, super sizzler and laughing clowns. The more armbands that we sell, the more rides we get;
so please encourage friends and family to pre-purchase an armband.
