Last week we included the names of Year 7 students who received Australian Mathematics Trust
Awards. Gremlins were at play, and we missed one student. Congratulations to Steven Tran who
received a Credit in this very competitive filed well done Steven!
Our final P&C Meeting for 2009 is next Monday evening, at 7:30pm in our Staffroom (next to the
Office). You are very welcome. The P&C has provided outstanding support for our school this year,
and the Executive, led by Rachel Peapell, have been wonderful.
Carols Evening is held on the Monday of the last week of Term from 6pm. We hope to have
everyone join us for this community opportunity to say good bye for the year and celebrate
Christmas together. There will be a Christmas Tree and we ask that people bring a gift to put under
the tree for others less fortunate than ourselves these gifts will be donated to the Sherwood
Neighbourhood Centre to distribute through their local network of people in need. Also, the Student
Council will be selling small flickering candlelight for $2 (this is not a fundraiser but just to cover
some of our costs). All classes, from Prep to Year 7 will be performing on the evening and there
will also be opportunities for everyone to join in well know traditional carols.
Our Awards Ceremony will be held next Wednesday morning in the Hall. Along with the
presentation of Awards, the program includes some skipping for the Year 7 Arrows, a number of
music items and a slideshow of highlights from the year.
The School Magazine is an amazing collection of memories from 2009. All classes have
contributed, there are fantastic photos and Mrs Hollier once again has done an incredible job of
crafting the pages to provide a host of special memories. It is really a feature for the year, and the
cost of the Magazine is only to cover the costs of its production. This year it is being printed at
Corinda High and we are including some feature colour pages. Refer to page 2 for details on how
to order.

The following is an extract from the Department of Education and Training.
Cyber bullying
Parents are increasingly concerned about the effects of cyber bullying on children. Cyber
bullying can occur through emails, internet chat rooms, via instant message or mobile phone text
messages.
It is important that parents talk to their children about the dangers of cyber bullying, however it is
difficult to know where to start.
A new campaign, Cyber Bullying Affects Real Lives, aims to educate young internet users about
the impact of cyber bullying and ways to prevent it happening to them and their friends.
The campaign is part of the Smart Online Safe Online (SOSO) initiative, an interactive and
engaging website which encourages children to be smart and safe online.
There are many resources available on the SOSO website to raise awareness of cyber
bullying and allow any cyber bullying to be reported. The website includes a short YouTube video
and a cyber bullying checklist. There is also an interactive online game called Web Warriors
where children from across the country take a stand against cyber bullying. For more information
visit the website www.soso.org.au
***URGENT***
Every child on the school has contributed to this magnificent book. The magazine is
packed full of stories & photos. Dont miss out on this wonderful school memory.
Place your order, and pay $18.50 at our School Office by this FRIDAY 26 NOVEMBER.
![]() The Year 7 Market Day is on Friday 4 December. This will take place in
the school hall and will run from 9.00am 2.00pm. Some of the stalls will
feature: crafts, Christmas decorations, face painting, Spiders and Ice
Creams and games stalls.
Each class is invited to come along at a scheduled time and buy some of
the products or services on offer. We recommend an amount of about $5
as a guide to anyone wondering how much to spend. It would help if
some of this amount consisted of coins rather than all notes. But, of course, we will accept all
money.
This has been a valuable program in which the Year 7 students have had the opportunity to learn
about some of the factors which have to be considered in the running of a small business. Funds
raised will be used to contribute to the school facilities.

REALLY happy with everyone trying so hard.

Club night on 27 Nov: will be a "Special Club Night". As well as our regular swims, we have a
number of members who are swimming exceptionally well and will be timed for Club Records and
District qualifying times. They will need support from the Grandstand so bring loads of
encouragement on Friday 27th. We will need a few extra time keepers, any offers on Friday will be
welcome. BBQ and Canteen as usual.
As Christmas is a time for helping others, on the last Club night we hold a swim-a-thon with our
break-up. A $5 per swimmer or $10 per family donation is collected at the gate to pass on to The
Royal Childrens Hospital. The most laps swum in all three squads, boys and girls, receive a prize.
